In celebration of 30 years as a leading multidisciplinary performing arts education institution in the region, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) will host an international symposium titled: “Asian Transformation - New Perspectives on Creativity and Performing Arts Education”. The Symposium will be held 20 – 22 November 2014 in the Academy’s Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheatre.
21st century Hong Kong is a dynamic and diverse cultural metropolis at a unique point of intersection between Asian and Western creative practice. With Asia ascendant on the world stage, Hong Kong’s identity as special administrative region of China and its rich cross-cultural influences ideally position it to explore new creative paradigms and their potential to shape the future of performing arts education.
The Symposium, will host over fifty renowned international and local speakers, performers, and educators presenting keynote addresses, participating in roundtable discussions, and taking part in a series of exciting performances both during daytime sessions as well as in special productions in the evenings that explore new creative paradigms and their potential to shape the future of performing arts education.
Simultaneous Translation (English, Putonghua and Cantonese) will be provided at the Symposium.
