Qi Huan, born in Anshan, China was a principal dancer with the Royal New Zealand Ballet (RNZB) until joining the faculty of the NZSD in 2014. Qi began his dance journey in Shenyang, furthered his training at the Beijing Dance Academy (BDA), and taught at the BDA from 2003 to 2004. Dancing with the RNZB since 2005, Qi has performed many leading roles including Ethan Stiefel and Johan Kobborg's Giselle, Sir Russell Kerr's Swan Lake and Petrouchka, Garry Harris's The Nutcracker and Don Quixote, Christopher Hampson's Cinderella and Romeo & Juliet, Greg Horsman's Sleeping Beauty, David Dawson's A Million Kisses to my Skin, MacMillan's Concerto Pas de Deux, Benjamin Millepied's 28 Variations, George Balanchine's Who Cares?, Jorma Elo's Plan to A, and Michael Pink's Dracula, Peter Schaufuss' La Sylphide.

Qi was invited by Mao's Last Dancer's Li Cunxin (Artistic Director of Queensland Ballet) to guest perform in principal roles for 4 seasons with the Queensland Ballet. He has also notably starred alongside American Ballet Theatre superstar Gillian Murphy (Giselle) as Albrecht in RNZB's universally acclaimed filmed production Giselle produced by Johan Kobborg and Ethan Stiefel.

Following his extensive career with the Royal New Zealand Ballet, Qi went on to join the New Zealand School of Dance as a Classical Ballet Tutor, and has guest taught with Canada's National Ballet School, Lyon Opera Ballet, Auckland Dance Academy, and Asian Grand Prix, amongst many others. Upon returning to Singapore, Qi continued to inspire the next generation of aspiring dancers through teaching and coaching students of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Dance Programme. In February 2022, Qi co-founded Ballet Quarter, a dance school based in Singapore that reflects his vision to provide access to a well-balanced, comprehensive and high quality dance education to students of all ages.
