Dialogue with Amy Voris: Integrating dance-making and somatic practice

About the Webinar:
In this webinar, Amy will offer some insight into the processes underpinning her dance-making practice, which is deeply informed by a somatic and contemplative practice called Authentic Movement.  She will offer a brief overview of two collaborative projects, one which is site-responsive (enter inhabit) and another which involves working with large-scale jewellery objects (flockOmania).  She will also discuss a long-term solo dance making project (called perch) which formed the basis of her doctoral research into forming, returning to and deepening the relationship with movement material over an extended period of time.

About the Speaker:
Amy Voris is a contemporary dance-maker, facilitator and somatic movement therapist based in Manchester, UK. Her practice is process-oriented and collaborative, driven by the desire to develop enduring relationships with people, with places and with movement material. Alongside her artistic practice, Amy has worked in higher education for twenty years delivering a range of dance-related subjects within conservatoire and university settings. In 2012, she completed training in Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapy with Linda Hartley. Her doctoral research explored the processual qualities of Authentic Movement as the basis for forming, returning to and deepening the relationship with movement material over an extended period of time.
