Job Opportunities




Reporting to the librarian, the postholder will be in charge of the Technical Services Section, including Acquisitions and Electronic Resources as well as being responsible for developing the Library Collection in all formats (print, non-print and digital) The postholder will manage and maintain the Library’s catalogue data and metadata in support of users’ discovery and access to library resources and will be required to make budget proposals for the development and enhancements of the Technical Services Section. As a key member of the Library Marketing Team, the postholder will promote the use of library resources and services and represent the Library in different working groups of Academy-wide events.

Applicants should have:
(a) A Master’s Degree in Library Science or Information Management or equivalent;
(b) A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience, preferably in academic library settings;
(c) Practical experience with Acquisitions, Resources and Analytic modules of ExLibris Alma and Primo VE or other cloud-based integrated library system and discovery platform;
(d) Proficiency in the use of tools for data conversion, processing CJK materials, RDA, AACR2r, MARC21, LCSH, DC and MarcEdit;
(e) Experience in acquisitions of print and electronic resources;
(f) Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
(g) Good problem solving, interpersonal and presentation skills; and
(h) Leadership and Team-building skills.

Appointment will be on a two-year contract with the possibility of renewal, subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity payment equal up to 15% of basic salary earned during the contract period will be payable upon satisfactory completion of contract.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
