LECTURER (COMPLEMENTARY STUDIES) - ENGLISH

FULL-TIME

The Complementary Studies at the Academy offers courses in Applied Learning, General Education and Language. Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer (Complementary Studies) within Complementary Studies.

The successful applicant will join a collaborative and proactive team and assist the management and delivery of English / Chinese language courses offered by the Unit. The postholder will oversee the development of course materials at undergraduate degree and sub-degree levels, and coordinate part-time teachers in course delivery.

Applicants should:
(a) Possess a Master’s degree in English language or related discipline;
(b) Have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant teaching experience in the tertiary level;
(c) Have a proven track record in developing classroom learning and eLearning materials that are student-centred, communicative and outcome-based;
(d) Preferably have experience in EAP and ESP;
(e) Preferably have experience or an interest in art or performing arts; and
(f) Have an excellent command of written and oral English.

The ideal candidate will be a committed and dynamic teacher, have excellent interpersonal skills and work to a high standard both independently and as part of a team.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year contract with possibility of renewal, subject to mutual agreement.  A gratuity payment equal up to 15% of basic salary earned during the contract period will be payable upon satisfactory completion of contract.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Expected commencement date will be in September 2022.
