Our graduates are regularly invited to join Hong Kong’s three flagship dance companies: Hong Kong Ballet, Hong Kong Dance Company and City Contemporary Dance Company. Hong Kong Disneyland, which opened in 2005, also offers employment opportunities for large numbers of dancers. In addition, a number of smaller dance groups exist: for example, YURI and company danciNG, Unlock Dancing Plaza, Y-Space, Miranda Chin Dance Company and E-side Dance Company.
Hong Kong’s vibrant dance scene owes much to the energy and initiative of the independent dance sector, a regular feature of which are performance opportunities with small ‘pick-up’ companies, often involving cutting-edge collaborations with artists from other disciplines.
Apart from working as professional dancers, our graduates also find employment as dance teachers in private dance schools, primary and secondary schools and in community centres. In recent years, an increasing number of graduates have taken up employment abroad, joined graduate dance companies or gone to further studies at the master’s degree level, either in Hong Kong or abroad.
