William is a performing arts critic and researcher based in Hong Kong. After getting his B.A.(Hon.) degree in Language & Communication from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and an MFA degree in Media Design & Technology from the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong, William worked in education, media production and publication for a decade. He then went back to campus in Europe and completed a double MA degree in International Performance Research awarded by the University of Warwick (UK) and the University of Arts in Belgrade (Serbia) in 2015.
William has been writing reviews and feature articles on visual arts, dance and theatre productions since 1998 for various Hong Kong and Macau media. He was the co-editor of the first Hong Kong Drama Yearbook in 2006, and he has also worked as a Project Manager for the International Association for Theatre Critics (Hong Kong) during 2015-2017 for the Archive and Oral History Project on Hong Kong Drama (Phase 1). Between October 2019 and December 2021, he was the editor of dance journal/hk published by Hong Kong Dance Alliance.
Before joining APA, he worked as a full-time lecturer at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Kwun Tong) where he developed and led the Higher Diploma programme in Artiste and Cultural Management for three years. Currently, William is also a jury member of the Hong Kong Dance Awards, Hong Kong Theatre Libre and IATC(HK) Critics Awards, as well as an Arts Advisor in Arts Criticism and Examiner in Arts Administration, Arts Criticism, Dance, Drama, and Film and Media Arts at the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
