履歷

LAM Kwan-fai stands as an embodiment of artistic versatility and academic excellence in the realms of composition, entrepreneurship, and scholarship. Embraced by the international music community as an award-winning composer, his composition prowess has been honoured with prestigious accolades, including the ‘2006 Hsu Tsang-Houei International Composition Competition Prize’ and the ‘2007 Asian Composers League Young Composer Award’. In 2019, Lam's exceptional score for 'The Ravages of Time' was celebrated with the Best Original Score for Theatre Play at the 28th Hong Kong Drama Award.

As a forward-thinking entrepreneur, Lam pioneered the establishment of InterMusic Production (I.M.P.) in 2014. Under his leadership, I.M.P. swiftly gained recognition with a membership from Youth Business Hong Kong, reflecting the company's dynamism and growth. Over the years, the company has produced musical scores for over 30 films and TV productions. I.M.P.'s portfolio boasts collaborations with prestigious production giants such as Bona Film Group Limited, Sil-Metropole Organisation Limited, Emperor Entertainment Group, and Sunac Culture & Tourism Group, earning the company an international footprint.

In the scholarly domain, Lam's educational journey is marked by a Bachelor of Music from The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts, an endeavour supported by an Oversea Study Scholarship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. His scholarly pursuit culminated in a PhD in Music Composition from the University of Hong Kong, where his practice-as-research thesis, “Scoring for Film and Theatre Play: Original Music Written with a Narrative Approach”, stands as a significant contribution to the field.

Lam's passion for education extends beyond personal achievement; he is committed to mentoring and inspiring through interdisciplinary connections. Prior to his full-time appointment at the HKAPA, Lam has imparted his expertise through courses such as 'Music in Storying' and 'Entrepreneurship' at HKAPA, as well as 'Applied Orchestration for Screen', 'Music and Media', and 'Music Business' at Hong Kong Baptist University, equipping the next generation of artists and professionals with the tools for success.
