Academy Musical: tick, tick...BOOM!
Are you letting yourself be led by fear or by love?
tick, tick... BOOM! is an autobiographical musical by the late musical writer Jonathan Larson. It tells his personal story of the struggle on the verge of turning 30, and he feels like he is running out of time to achieve his dreams of success in the musical industry. Over the course of the show, Jonathan navigates his relationships with his girlfriend Susan and his best friend Michael, while also continues to write the perfect songs to respond to age, life and death, especially for marginalized groups, sexual minorities, and the issue of AIDS in 1990s America.
After its completion, Jonathan Larson received recognition and appreciation from the musical theatre industry and went on to create the Broadway musical Rent. Unfortunately, he passed away and was unable to witness his own success.
