Safeguarding Performing Artists Talk Series
This May, the Library and the General Education Centre jointly organized a series of talks entitled “Safeguarding Performing Artists” for staff and students to better understand the legal rights and responsibilities of creators of works and the assistance and services available for Chinese citizens staying aboard. We are privileged to have Prof Steven Gallagher, Associate Dean and Professor of Practice in Law from CUHK Faculty of Law, and Dr. Huang Zhenyu, Former Counselor of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in HKSAR (2016-2019) and former Vice Consul General of Chinese Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2012-2015), as the speakers.

Professor Steven Gallagher
- Associate Dean and Professor of Practice in Law from CUHK Faculty of Law
| Professor Steven Gallagher is a noted expert and prolific writer in art, antiquities, cultural heritage and law, property law and digital technology and law, and legal history. He has been widely quoted in newspapers and TV reports. He also gives pro-bono advice for a number of Hong Kong museums and artists. |
Dr. Huang Zhenyu
- Former Counselor of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in HKSAR (2016-2019)
- Former Vice Consul General of Chinese Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2012-2015)
| Dr Huang Zhenyu served in various capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1994-2019) and was awarded an Honor of Third Degree in recognition of his outstanding performance in evacuating Chinese enterprise personnel from Libya (2011). He was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University (2008) and taught in China Foreign Affairs University (2019-2022). |
