Biography
Jonathan Wong is a Lecturer in Design with over 15 years of teaching experience, particularly in the field of Theatre and Entertainment Arts. He taught at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2012 and was an artist-in-residence at the HKAPA in 2014.
Since beginning his professional career, Jonathan has worked as a theatre designer for most of the major theatre companies in Hong Kong. His recent productions include Why We Chat by Edward Lam Dance Theatre, Dust and Dawn by the HKAPA, The Great Pretender by West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and Hong Kong Repertory Theatre. His design in Shuraba, The Father, and Dust and Dawn were nominated for Best Set Design by the Hong Kong Theatre Awards.
Jonathan was a graduate of the HKAPA and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, from which he received an MA in Theatre Design.
In addition to designing for theatre, Jonathan is involved in various events and commercial designs. In 2009, he was the chief designer of a boutique hotel design project, 1881 Hullet House, a famous heritage site of Hong Kong that he transformed into a boutique hotel.
