Academy music graduates can be found in many areas of the music profession, both in Hong Kong and abroad. Many have taken up positions in the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and the Music Office. Others work as freelance musicians, accompanists, teachers, composers, studio recording technicians and arts administrators.

Many degree and advanced diploma graduates have gained scholarships to study abroad at postgraduate level at major conservatories overseas.
