Undergraduate and Post-secondary Programmes

Bachelor's Degree Programmes (QF Level 5)

The four-year Bachelor's Degree programmes provide students with practice-based professional education in the areas of study encompassing Chinese Opera, Dance, Drama, Film and Television, Music, and Theatre and Entertainment Arts. The programmes range from 130 to 136 credits, with the exception of Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree in Chinese Opera (Cantonese Opera Performance) programme which has 138 credits. The programmes aim to develop students with a significant body of knowledge, skills, and competencies in relevant disciplines in order to prepare them for professional careers regionally and internationally.

Graduates are expected to demonstrate comprehension, creative and intelligent engagement with forms, practices, techniques, traditions, histories, and applications of performance and production in support of established practices in their discipline. They should have possessed the following attributes:

Their work is expected to be informed by ideas and practice of their discipline.

 

Advanced Diploma in Cantonese Opera Programme (QF Level 4)

The two-year Advanced Diploma in Cantonese Opera programme provides students with solid foundation and professional training to prepare and to qualify them for pursuing a performance career in the industry of Cantonese opera in Hong Kong, Mainland China and overseas. Graduates are expected to become proficient in applying their artistic knowledge and skills in performances, developing their own approaches and meeting professional standard, and will thus become proactive members of the Cantonese opera profession. Qualified graduates having met the admission requirements of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree in Chinese Opera programme may apply for admission with advanced standing to Year 3 of the programme.

The Diploma Programmes (QF Level 4)

The one-year Diploma programmes are feeders to the Bachelor’s Degree programmes of the Academy. They are structured to impart a broad understanding of and develop skills in the students' chosen performing arts/technical arts field in preparation for their further studies at undergraduate level at the Academy.

Certificate in Theatre and Entertainment Arts (Fast Track Vocational) Programme (QF Level 3)

This one-year programme is structured to provide students with practical experience in the production disciplines of theatre, entertainment and performing arts. Students will be offered core studies within these disciplines as well as other supporting courses in the School. A student who has successfully completed this programme should have the ability to enter the entertainment industry at junior level.
