The Academy is looking for a detail-minded executive to render a wide spectrum of executive and research support to senior management. The incumbent will have the following major responsibilities:
- To assist in policy formulation, procedural review and strategic research;

The postholder will assist the Campus Development Office (“CDO”) to provide a spectrum of executive services to facilitate the development and operation of CDO.

The Position
The Academy is now looking for a seasoned and detail-minded executive who will support the senior management in formulation and implementation of various human resources (HR) policies, including performance appraisal, succession plan, staff development, etc. The postholder will keep abreast of changes of HR related legislation and review and update the HR policies and guidelines in a timely manner. S/He will also assist in handling staff complaints, disciplinary matters, etc.
The Candidate
He/She should possess:
- A recognised Bachelor’s degree, preferably of a related discipline;
- At least 8 years of human resources management experience and exposure in rendering executive support to senior management of tertiary institutions, Government or other sizeable organisations;
- Demonstrable experience in formulating HR policies, strategic reviews, and implementation of administrative procedures;
- Excellent interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills;
- The ability to provide high level advice in relation to Human Resources management and general administrative issues; and
- High level of spoken and written proficiency in English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua).

Training directors, actors, playwrights and practitioners in drama and theatre education, the School of Drama offers full-time programmes from Foundation Diploma, through undergraduate, to MFA level. The School of Drama is seeking to appoint a Head of Directing to lead and oversee our BFA and MFA programmes. The ideal candidate would be a masterful Directing teacher, practitioner, and academic leader. All candidates should be up to date with international training in Directing as manifested at the world’s leading BFA and MFA Directing programmes. The postholder will also be required to teach other related courses according to his/her areas of expertise when and where needed.

The School of Music at the Academy offers comprehensive full-time programmes from Diploma to MMus level, alongside its highly successful Junior Music Programme – comparable to the ‘Junior Schools’ of other top-ranking conservatoires. In keeping with its conservatoire status, the School’s philosophy is centred on performance, and reflects the unique cultural mix of Hong Kong, with emphasis on both Western and Chinese traditions. The School comprises the Departments of Strings, Keyboard, Voice, Woodwind/Brass/Percussion (‘WBP’), Composition, Chinese Music, Conducting and Cultural Leadership, Academic Studies and Junior Music.
The Head of Keyboard Studies will be a significant performing arts practitioner and/or performer, who will build on existing strengths and lead the future development of the Keyboard Studies Department in the School of Music, working closely with other senior staff to promote innovative enhancements in the delivery of performing arts education across the School.
Reporting to the Dean of the School of Music, the appointee is expected to oversee the Keyboard Studies Department and be responsible for teaching, academic leadership and quality assurance in piano teaching across all levels and programmes. The appointee is expected to lead curriculum design, course review and development in the Keyboard Studies Department, undertake academic advising, and supervision of Undergraduate and Postgraduate research projects, and strengthen the School’s international networks and collaborative projects.
Applicants should have:
(a) A recognised degree in Music or equivalent qualification (preferably a doctoral degree in Keyboard studies or relevant disciplines).
(b) A strong professional background and extensive professional experience as a pianist and an educator.
(c) In-depth knowledge of current repertoire, pedagogical approaches, and performance practices in keyboard studies.
(d) Internationally recognised standing and good industry network.
(e) An excellent teaching record in conservatoire context across undergraduate, postgraduate, and pre-college music programmes.
(f) A successful track record of leadership and ability within an educational institution or similar performing arts-based organisation, including evidence in curriculum design, implementation and programme development according to established quality assurance frameworks.
(g) Solid experience in managing teams and collaborative work in the cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary context.
(h) The ability to advise and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
(i) Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
(j) A good command of both written and spoken English. Fluency in Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese) is an advantage.

The Position
The Academy is now looking for a high calibre executive who will support the senior management in formulating and implementing the Academy’s strategic initiatives. He/She will oversee various offices and give steer on areas related to campus development, facility management, venue operations, etc. and ensure that they are delivered effectively, efficiently and in full compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks. The appointee will assist the Academy to establish operational priorities and to drive related projects forward. He/She may represent the Academy to attend meetings, including various Legislative Council panels and District Council meetings, on matters relating to campus development.
The Candidate
He/She should possess:
- A strong administrative background and an extensive track record of involvement in a wide range of operational areas, preferably in the public sector.
- Substantial experience in managing strategy studies, development works projects, facility management and operations in sizeable organisations, preferably in a tertiary institution or a government department.
- Conversant with government procedures, particularly on procurement, tendering and funding submissions.
- Demonstrable high-level of management and organisational skills.
- Ability to draft complex documents such as funding submissions, project reports and Council papers.
- High level of spoken and written proficiency in English and Chinese languages.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year contract. Renewal of contract is subject to performance and operational needs of the Academy. A gratuity payment equals up to 15% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Academy’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Non-accountable Cash Allowance will be provided to the eligible appointee.
