Grab the Chance to Learn Fundamental Knowledge in Theatre and Entertainment Arts
In the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts (TEA), students can learn how to apply design, technology and management skills, and develop a career in the performing arts and entertainment industry.
For students who are interested in media technology, such as designing stage environments and atmospheres with sound, lighting and installations; or stage and event management and production; or hands-on design, such as set and costume making, prop making and scenery painting, here is a chance to learn fundamental knowledge in theatre and entertainment arts.
School of TEA will hold a Recruitment Day on 22 July (Friday) to recruit students who are taking DSE this year for Diploma in Theatre and Entertainment Arts Foundations programme. This Foundation Diploma is a one-year programme that not only teaches the basics in theatre and entertainment arts, but also serves as a feeder to Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Theatre and Entertainment Arts.
If interviewees meet the admission requirements of the Bachelor’s degree programme and perform well in the interview, they may even be considered by the School to be admitted to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Theatre and Entertainment Arts directly. Visit our website for more information!
Revisit the Insights Shared in The Social Impact of Performing Arts - Life Planning Forum
The Social Impact of Performing Arts – Life Planning Forum 2022 was successfully completed on 7 July. Our Deans and representatives of the six Schools of the Academy shared how performing arts education can foster social connection and inclusion with secondary school teachers, career masters, social organisations and art groups.
During the Forum, we also announced the launch of a new website for the Principal’s Recommendation Scheme (PRS) to help secondary schools to identify and nominate talented students to pursue their study at the Academy. This website provides information and reference for various majors and specifications of the undergraduate programmes offered at the Academy, and the qualities and prior trainings recommended for studying different disciplines. Creative Project Fund Connects the Community with Me Amo Interdisciplinary Art Project
We believe that arts can break through boundaries and open up windows for people to understand themselves and each other from various perspectives. With the support of the JK & Ingrid Lee Foundation Creative Project Fund, Michelle Lo, Year 3 student of the School of Drama, organised the Me Amo interdisciplinary art project for people with different abilities to embrace their true self and adversity through the power of performing arts, drawing inspiration from the story of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.
Participants with various special needs were actively engaged in the journey to self-embrace. They created artwork and photography which were displayed in the Me Amo Art Exhibition and performed a devising theatre performance Encounter. Both were received with positive feedback.
Since 2019, the Creative Project Fund has granted a total of HKD $180,000 to support five students to produce meaningful projects. These creative projects have proved to make arts more accessible and enjoyable, while provoking reflection and discussion on human nature, arts and the community. We look forward to supporting more students to curate more creative projects to care for the community.
