The HKAPA’s Internal Funding Schemes
Biannually offered by the HKAPA. The Research Seed Fund extends to all Academy’s full-time academic staff. Individual members of staff or teams of staff may submit applications for funding of research projects. As this is seed funding, it is crucial to consider future external funding possibilities that may be available for next steps in the project.
The Research Seed Fund comprises activities that may be related but not considered part of regular teaching commitments. Applicants are required to have completed any research project(s) for which they received funding through the Academy’s research funding schemes before submitting a new proposal for research funding.
The Research Seed Fund is administered and endorsed by the Director’s Office. The Research Committee evaluates all Research Seed Fund proposals against approved criteria that are subject to annual review by the Research Committee.
This funding is available to staff and students based on the following criteria:
This funding aims at promoting and supporting innovative practices in the performing arts, building and enhancing the creative environment of HKAPA’s students, alumni and artists.
It also is aimed at projects that seek to apply technology as a tool and as an enhancement to encourage innovation in form and process, as appropriate. It also encourages to provide a laboratory for the development of innovation and encouragement for the public dissemination of findings.
CCP funding is not available for ongoing curricular projects, proposals for funding must be for new work/development. Successful applicants are required to a project evaluation one month after project completion, as well as updates throughout the duration of the project regarding any potential delay or desired change in project detail. Approval for such must be confirmed by the Deputy Director (Academic).
This fund has the objectives of promoting an interdisciplinary and intercultural mind-set through visible, on-going collaborations within and across Schools; strengthen students’ professional knowledge & skills and networks through a reinforced alumni network and development of academic staff; offer students credit-bearing international experience through short-term mobility; joint projects, touring, internships, workshops, residences, and exchanges etc.; develop a strategically focused global Academy presence by committing to limited, aligned international partnerships and collaborations; and promote a strong and visible Academy presence worldwide by actively engaging in discipline-specific international networks.
Overall it supports the development of staff networks through producing increased visibility of world-leading work. Proposed Projects should achieve the realisation of “Interdisciplinary, Intercultural and Internationalised Campus” with selected international partners or/and industry partners building a discipline-specific network.
