HKAPA Presents Academy Opera: Giulio Cesare
The School of Music of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, in collaboration with the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts, will present the classic opera by Handel, Giulio Cesare, at the Academy Rita Tong Liu Drama Theatre on March 28, 29, 31 and April 1. Based on historical events during the Roman civil war in Egypt, this classic opera tells the story of Julius Caesar's love affair with Cleopatra and how they try to bring peace to the turbulent relationship between the Egyptian and Roman empires. The Academy has invited guest conductor Nicholas Kraemer and director Harry Fehr to participate in the production, which is also their debut in Hong Kong. Dr. Helmut Sohmen and Dr. Peter Thompson have generously agreed to support this production.

Greater Bay Area Youth Orchestra (GBAYO) 2023 Season Recruitment Starts
Established and directed by The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), and with the support of the Swire Group as Founding Patron, the Greater Bay Area Youth Orchestra (GBAYO) aspires to be one of the finest youth orchestras in the world. It aims to provide a platform for the highest standard of classical orchestral performance in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) by offering professional training and coaching by world-class musicians to talented young musicians across the region. The GBAYO 2023 season will inaugurate with a training camp and concert tour, which are now open for applications. Classical musicians aged 16 to 24, who were either born, graduated, are living, studying or working in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area are welcome to submit their applications.

HKAPA Open Day returns to campus on 5 March after 3 years
The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) will physically present its annual Open Day on March 5 after 3 years. Members of the public are invited to enjoy special events at the Wanchai Main Campus and the Béthanie Landmark Heritage Campus in Pokfulam of the Academy.

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts has conferred Honorary Doctorate and Honorary Fellowships
The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (the Academy) has conferred Honorary Awards on seven outstanding individuals in recognition of their remarkable achievements and contributions to the performing arts and cultural industry and also the development of the Academy. The ceremony held today at the Academy Lyric Theatre was officiated by the Academy Council Chairman, Mr. Edward Cheng Wai-sun GBS JP. Academy Director, Professor Gillian Choa, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the Honorary Awardees’ exemplary and valuable support to the Academy.
