“Discovering the Chinese Opera” workshop was successfully held on April 17, 2019 by the School of Chinese Opera of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In the workshop, students learnt the basics of Cantonese Opera including the four key elements “Singing, Recital, Acting and Acrobatics” through observations of performance and demonstration, as well as taking part in practical exercises, interactive activities and costume wearing. The workshop aims to enhance students’ understanding of Cantonese Opera, one of the World’s Intangible Heritage. Towards the end of the workshop, the Head of Project Management of the School of Chinese Opera explained the admission requirements and career pathways of our graduates to the students who may be interested in applying for this unique degree programme in the near future.
