A firm believer in arts, culture, education and the young people of Hong Kong, Ms Winnie Chiu Wing-kwan is dedicated to nurturing talent. With her belief that cross-cultural exchange can improve international understanding and foster societal progress, Ms Chiu aims to benefit the community by supporting individuals and institutions.

A member of the Executive Committee of the Society of the Academy for Performing Arts since 2014, as Gala Chairperson she has seen the Academy Ball raise approximately HK$30 million - support which can help endow future artists with sustainable transferable skills.

Dedicated to Hong Kong’s place in global culture, Ms Chiu became the youngest member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society Board of Governors in 2010, serving in that capacity for six years. In 2013, she joined the board of the Hong Kong Arts Centre and three years later became Chairman of the Hong Kong Art School Council. She has been a member of Hong Kong Arts Development Council since January this year, an Asia Youth Orchestra Board Director since 2011 and a member of the Hong Kong Arts Festival Development Committee since 2016. Ms Chiu’s entrepreneurial savvy complements her commitment to creating value and long-term sustainability in these organisations.

With education being another cause close to her heart, Ms Chiu aims to make a difference as a board member of Wu Yee Sun College at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and as a member of the Hotel, Service and Tourism Studies Discipline Advisory Board of the Vocational Training Council (VTC). Her commitment to giving back to the community is evidenced in her provision of financial aid and internship opportunities, with Dorsett scholarships benefitting more than 700 students to date from Ju Ching Chu Secondary School, CUHK and VTC.

Ms Chiu has a strong commitment to Hong Kong and has served on the Business Facilitation Advisory Committee, the Betting and Lotteries Commission, the Better Hong Kong Foundation, Our Hong Kong Foundation, the Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners Association, the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, the Hong Kong Japan Business Cooperation Committee, the Hong Kong Youth Association and the Y. Elites Association.

Ms Chiu is President and Executive Director of Dorsett Hospitality International and Chairman of AGORA Hospitality Group Co., Ltd. - integrated hotel companies that own, develop and manage 51 hotels in mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom.

Ms Chiu, who holds a BSc from King’s College, University of London, has been honoured with the 2017 Female Leader Legacy Award, the Golden Bauhinia Women Entrepreneur Award, the World Outstanding Chinese Youth Award, the 2016 Women of Hope Award in the Global Champion category, the 2014 Forbes Asia: Top 12 Asia’s Power Businesswomen and the 2014 Hong Kong Professional Elite Ladies Award.
