The postholder reports to the Assistant Librarian I (Reader Services). He/she will provide services at the circulation counter, assist users in the use of library services, equipment and facilities, and answering general enquiries. He/she will help to process library materials and provide clerical support to different sections of the Library. The postholder will be required to perform regular and shift duties in both libraries at the Wanchai and Bethanie campus in the evenings, on weekends and public holidays. He/she is also responsible for transferring library items between the two campuses.
Applicants should:
(a) Have at least 5 subjects at Grade E/Level 2 or above in the HKCEE/HKDSEE, including English Language (Syllabus B) (Grade C in English Language (Syllabus A) taken before 2007 is acceptable for this purpose), Chinese Language and Mathematics;
(b) Have good IT knowledge and be proficiency in computer applications including MS Office, Outlook and Chinese word processing;
(c) Good command of spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua;
(d) Have service-oriented work attitude; and
(e) Have good inter-personal and communication skills.
Preference will be given to those who have:
(a) The ability to read sheet music.
(b) Relevant working experience in academic libraries.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year contract. Renewal of contract is subject to work performance and operational needs of the Academy. A gratuity payment equals up to 10% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Academy’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
