At The Moment is an applied theatre project oragnised by a group of third-year students from the School of Drama aimed at promoting artistic inclusivity and serving communities in need through performing arts.
The performances were based on the concept that everyone has a story, and everyone’s story deserves to be heard and valued. With emphases on audience interaction and participation, participants were invited to share their stories and feelings in a safe, secured, respectful and non-judgemental space. The performers responded to the audience’s sharing with improvised music, lyrics and drawings to help the audience to feel seen and heard.
Partnering with Hong Kong Society for the Blind (HKSB), the project team held four performances during the summer 2022 and invited 80 visually impaired members of HKSB to participate, accompanied by their companions and volunteers. The project team also took part in audio description workshops and activities of HKSB to understand how to provide a better experience for visually impaired persons taking into consideration the audience’s needs. The participants were eager to share their stories and enthusiastic about the performances.
