Art March: About 8,500 Visitors Enjoy Over a Hundred Free Performing Arts Activities at HKAPA Open Day
At the beginning of Art March, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) pulled together the efforts of the six Schools and various units and held its annual Open Day today. Filled with over a hundred free performing arts activities, with highlights on artificial intelligence (AI) and art technology, the event drew about 8,500 visitors to the Main Campus in Wanchai and the Bėthanie Landmark Heritage Campus in Pokfulam.

HKAPA Presents Academy Opera: The Merry Widow
The School of Music of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, in collaboration with the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts, the School of Dance, and the School of Drama, will present the operetta composed by Lehár, The Merry Widow, at the Academy Rita Tong Liu Drama Theatre on March 26, 27, 29 and 30.

Academy Director, Professor Gillian Choa, is pleased to see the unwavering commitment of the government to developing high-quality arts, cultural and creative industries through continuously refining relevant sectors, promoting Chinese culture and fostering arts and cultural exchanges regionally and internationally. The initiatives align well with the long-time strategic goals of the Academy which endeavours to strive for excellence in providing the younger generations with a diverse, cross-disciplinary learning environment, and nurturing a new generation of young and aspiring performing arts talents.

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts welcomes the appointment of Mr. Charles Yang Chuen-liang BBS JP as new Council Chairman
The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), welcomes the appointment of Mr. Charles Yang Chuen-liang BBS JP as new Council Chairman of the Academy, Mrs. Helen Chan SBS as new Treasurer of the Academy Council and Mr. Jason Joseph Lee Kwong-yee, Dr. Irene Tang Mo-lin, Mr. Symon Wong Yu-wing, Professor Yiu Song-lam (staff representative) as new members of the Academy Council as appointed by the Chief Executive of HKSAR Government with effect from January 1, 2024. The Academy Director, Professor Gillian Choa, believes that the Academy will benefit enormously from the expertise and experience of Mr. Charles Yang BBS JP in the sectors of finance, performing arts and cultural developments; and looks forward to working even more closely with him.
Professor Choa would like to take this opportunity to express her heartfelt thanks to the outgoing Council Chairman, Mr. Edward Cheng GBS JP, for his leadership and invaluable contributions to the Academy in the past two years. She is also grateful to the outgoing members of the Council including Ms. Maisy Ho Chiu-ha BBS, Ms. Cynthia Liu Chiu-fun BBS and Professor Clarence Mak Wai-chu (staff representative) for their staunch support and committed service to the Academy over the years.
